Meze Audio Pushes The Boundaries Of Traditional Diaphragm Design For The 109 PRO

With extensive research and development, the experts at Meze Audio achieved the 109 series Dual-Composite Diaphragm – a combination of Beryllium-coated polymer, cellulose + carbon fibre composite and copper-zinc alloy. Made of cellulose composite enforced with carbon fibre, the W-shaped dome can reproduce audio with incredible detail, clarity and definition. The ultra-thin torus surrounding the diaphragm is composed of 22 micron Beryllium-coated semicrystalline polymer. Beryllium's high damping qualities help suppress unwanted resonances, giving the 109 PRO its sonic character. Around the membrane, the ring-shaped stabiliser made of copper-zinc alloy improves the absorption of vibrations and reduces distortion. These qualities are also enhanced through the corrugations on the torus, which are precisely carved at a 45.5° angle.

The black walnut wood used for the 109 PRO, comes from sources with a certificate of origin, harvested from mature trees that have reached the end of their life cycle. The diaphragm is encased in a high-precision aluminium frame, together with the neodymium magnet. Manufactured using CNC machining, the frame offers superior rigidity, strength, and thermal stability to retain surface flatness. The 109 PRO combines an open-back design with a walnut wooden chamber that follows the unique aesthetic language of Meze Audio. Velour cushions surround the ears, providing the optimal seal to create natural sound. The self-adjusting headband spreads the weight to deliver even pressure for any head shape and size.
